Hey, I'm new to EVs and I've been scouring the internet for tips on my Model 3. Right now, I'm hunting for a simple, step-by-step guide on how to safely tap into the 12V power for adding stuff like a dashcam. Planning to go full DIY on this. Any pros out there done this before and got some tips to drop?

For a clean install, the 12V connector behind the rearview mirror is the go-to spot. If you’re new to this, I’d suggest getting a hardwire kit for your dashcam, which often comes with everything you need, like wire taps and fuses. You can also find video tutorials on YouTube for visual guidance – they’re super helpful for figuring out the trim removal part. I’d recommend using a trim removal tool to avoid damaging the plastic cover when accessing the wiring. DIY is totally doable for this project!

You can tap into the 12V power from the fuse box or a power outlet. There are online guides and videos with step-by-step instructions. Just be cautious and ensure you use the correct fuses.
