I'm starting to hear a low-level rubbing noise from the front brakes of my Tesla Model 3, especially when braking lightly. The car has about 48,000 miles on it.

Could it be a sign that the brakes need some attention, or is this normal wear and tear?

I had a similar noise on my Model 3, and it turned out to be a little rust build-up on the rotors. Because regen braking does most of the work, the traditional brakes don’t get used as much and can sometimes collect rust, especially in humid climates. Try doing a few hard stops from a decent speed (when it’s safe to do so, of course) to clean them up. If the noise persists, it might be time to have a service tech take a closer look. They would do a cleaning service for those brakes.

When I read 48k miles I thought instantly about rotors and braking pads. Yeah, definitely a cleaning service for the brakes would do the job.

Mine does the same thing too! I think it might be something to do with the brake pads or calipers, but I'm not really sure. It doesn't bother me too much, to be honest.

Do you notice any difference in how the brakes feel when you press the pedal?
