Looking to crank up the sound in my Model 3! Thinking aftermarket, but is it worth the hassle compared to traditional cars? Anyone done a full system replacement? Curious about challenges, speaker options, and lessons learned.

Tesla’s audio system is integrated with the car’s computer, so going aftermarket can be tricky. Most systems use a digital signal processor (DSP), and you’ll need one that works with Tesla’s setup to avoid losing features like fade or balance. Brands like Helix and JL Audio have solutions specifically for EVs. Also, keep in mind that adding a subwoofer or amp will require tapping into the 12V system carefully to avoid draining the battery. Done right, it’s a solid upgrade!

My concern with upgrading the sound system in a Model 3 is that it could void certain parts of the warranty or lead to compatibility issues with the car’s existing electronics..

Given how smoothly the Model 3’s audio system works, replacing amplifiers would probably be a bit of a headache. Swapping out speakers might be easier, but honestly, with the car’s top-notch sound quality, why would anyone want to mess with it anyway?
